MES works in support of Gas Distribution Networks to replace worn-out iron and steel mains with modern Polyurethane (PE) pipes. This helps to minimise potential leakage, as well as to prepare the network to carry hydrogen gas in future.
More infoWe have an extensive background in the replacement of low, medium and intermediate pressure mains replacement, with over 1,000 km of replacements annually during RIIO GD1, and our portfolio includes a significant contribution to the London Medium Pressure System.
We are pioneering modern methods such as wheel cutting, pipe cracking, live mains insertion and cured-in-place pipe, as well as innovative and time saving techniques for service replacement. These methods help us to minimise the need to excavate long strips of land, minimising impact on traffic, local residents and businesses, as well as reducing our carbon footprint.
As well as managing the design, execution and reinstatement of these works, MES plays a leading role in liaison with the community in which we work, to minimise disruption to all stakeholders. This includes leading and undertaking all streetworks activities, including the booking of all permits and notices required, with extensive consultation with local authorities, highways and the management of road closures and streetworks
MES has undertaken more than 200,000 individual new connections, allowing for circa 18,000 new gas customers per year. These have included newly built residential properties as well as business parks and industrial estates.
More infoOffering a full end-to-end service, including a full design and planning function, optioneering, consultation, invoicing and aftercare, we work with customers to identify the best possible options for their new connection requirements.
Our one-stop-shop service ensures all necessary surveys, construction, easement, traffic management and reinstatement tasks are undertaken to the highest standard.
As the country moves to a greener economy, we are well-placed to play a key role. This will enable discrete, local transportation networks to be established on-demand, as well as for bio-gas exporters to access the gas distribution network
This work applies to buildings of over 2 storeys (either domestic or commercial) that include more than one Meter Point. 52% of people in Greater London live in Multiple Occupancy Buildings (MOBs). Our MOBs service experience showcases our excellent safety performance as well as demonstrating the high levels of customer satisfaction we achieve.
More infoWorking on behalf of Cadent Gas, MES has provided reassurance and safety to hundreds of customers across London during RIIO GD1 and now the East of England for RIIO GD2. Our Multiple Occupancy Buildings (MOBs) service provides a start-to-finish operation to replace faulty or worn-out gas risers in high and medium rise properties. This work is usually conducted in response to a gas leak and requires a timely and efficient service to ensure families, businesses and vulnerable customers receive proper care and information during the works.
We have provided support to as many as 400 families and businesses at any given time while their gas service has been temporary disabled, responding to an average of one call-out every day. This required efficiently managing simultaneous operations for a workforce of more than 300 specialist operatives.
Working in support of major infrastructure and construction projects, we have the capability to survey, design and undertake complex operations. We can take out much of the planning, design and management burden of capital works and bring benefit through our experience of civil engineering and programme management.
More infoMicrotunnelling operations under live railway lines and multiple carriageway roads, ensuring traffic and rail has been able to carry on as normal (without closure) while we have provided the tunnel entrance, sleeve and exit points to enable the gas pipeline or main to pass beneath.
River and canal crossings: Providing special crossing operations both above and below the watercourse, our operations have included tunnels under the River Thames, as well as a wide range of smaller drainage features, with consideration given to the natural ecology and respect for the environment in which we work.
Our clients are kept informed at all stages of our crossing operations, with daily reports on key events and our progress. We also manage the full suite of stakeholder and public consultation, including the intelligent scheduling and planning of our works to minimise our operations on other businesses and the community.
At Morrison Energy Services, we believe delivering a high performing, sustainable workforce is integral to successfully support our clients. We embrace change and promote diversity to effectively support long-term career aspirations and exceptional delivery within safe, supportive environments.
